If you're planning your first international trip, it's crucial to familiarize yourself with travel requirements and thoroughly research your destinations in advance.

Firstly, ensure you have a passport that is valid and ensure you are within the expiration date limits for your travel. Additionally, for smoother travel through US airports, consider applying for TSA Pre Check and Global Entry. They will simplify your journey, but are optional programs.

A new requirement for United Kingdom (UK) entry (England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales) is the eTA. Various services are available for this, but the most cost-effective and direct ETA application is through the official site, linked above.

A new requirement for US travelers on any domestic flight takes effect in May of 2025. Every traveler flying is now required to have a RealID version of your driver's license or ID card. This includes a special icon (ie: star) embedded into the license. See the above link for more information.

Lastly, in 2025, European Union countries will have a new entry requirement. Check this website often for timing. The requirement will be active six months after their Electronic Entry System is active.
